나는 이미지와 텍스트의 병치를 통하여 관계(association)맺기에 의문을 제기하는 작업을 한다. 이미지와 텍스트의 물질들은 언어를 형성한다. 나는 일상에서 오는 사소하고 미묘한 생각들, 작업노트, 사실적인 사진 등을 주로 작업에 이용한다. 그 텍스트에 미묘한 변화들을 주어 재결합하여 제시하는데, 이 과정에서 텍스트는 이미지를 이루는 동시에 암호화된 노출의 방식(Mirror writing)으로 보여지게 된다. 텍스트들은 눈에 띄게 드러나지만 그 의미들은 드러난다기 보다는 오히려 함축적이다.

Soonnam Lim is concerned with the idea of writing, and of reading. The red writing she writes to express herself. The transcripted text, often from biblical sources in mirrorwriting, the act of her writing them are the work. The texts are inverted and as such largely uninterpretable, there are also slippages's and unexpected juxtapositions. These small but important shifts reveal her practice and the moments of her life as an artist as she writes, copies, draws the text before her. How we read them is a separate discourse.
